A live nativity for the whole community
A Night in Old Bethlehem invites the community to discover the birth of Christ as they explore the town of Bethlehem at the annual Sights and Sounds of Christmas celebration in San Marcos, Texas held the first two weeks in December. The Christmas Story inspires hope and peace as we present the live nativity, complete with The Holy Family, angels, shepherds, wise men and animals. Bethlehem is a historical perspective of the birth of Christ in a family friendly environment with a focus on FREE interactive activities for children. This is our Christmas gift to the community.
Bringing the town of Bethlehem to Life
Volunteers are the heart and soul of A Night in Old Bethlehem. It takes almost a hundred people a night to tell the story of Christ’s birth. We need angels, shepherds, wise men, and helpers of all kinds to bring the live nativity to life, man the FREE kid’s craft stations and cook the turkey legs!
Costumes and training are available. There is a place for everyone in the Christmas story.
OUR history - Keeping the Star Lit
since 1987
A Night in Old Bethlehem began as a Vacation Bible School at a local church that recreated the city of Jerusalem in 29 AD. The idea grew into recreating the town of Bethlehem during the Christmas season as a way to tell The Christmas Story with a live nativity. The event was so popular that it soon became a part of an annual holiday celebration called The Sights and Sounds of Christmas in San Marcos held the first two weeks of every December. Our mission allows us to continue to share the birth of Christ with the community for many years to come.
